Scapes - Landscapes or Seascapes

Definition

Let’s give it a go. We’ve got some great views at Shakepear or head into Auckland and stand on one of the many volcanoes, or head out to the West Coast of Piha and Muriwai. Definition of a landscape: A landscape photograph is about ‘place’ and ‘space’. It is scenic. The subject is the ‘land’ – the earth, sea, and sky… the natural surface of planet Earth.

For the purposes of this competition cityscapes and abstract ‘landscapes’ are excluded (e.g. close ups of objects and forms other than nature).

Tips

The photograph is about the environment and nature. The landscape photograph may include people, buildings, wildlife, etc., but these should not be the centre of interest or the photograph becomes a portrait, an architectural photo, wildlife photography, etc.

While there are many interpretations of landscape photography, for the purposes of competitions this genre excludes cityscapes and abstract ‘landscapes’ (e.g. close ups of objects and forms other than nature).
